Movement Insights, LLC
Business Genre
Long Business Description

At our studio, individuals are encouraged to let go of their judgements and move freely. This involves quieting the mind and learning to listen to one's own physical instincts. The primary movement modality that we use is Journey Dance. The intent is to help people feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies. The work can be transformative, inspiring, and empowering as it allows one to release inhibitions, tensions, and fears that can impede their personal growth. It can be helpful in processing difficult emotions as movement ultimately brings new insights into our growth.

Jean Trewhella, Founder and Instructor:

My dance practice has formed from diverse experiences and stylistic traditions. While studying Physics at Antioch College I was introduced to dance and found that dancing each semester was a great way to balance my heavy intellectual course work. I gained a foundation of body awareness through the practice of Alexander technique®, modern dance, improvisational performance arts.  The pairing made sense to me then and still does today.
Through my professional career I gained leadership and diversity skills from trainings such as Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®, Judith Humphrey’s Taking the Stage®, and Pat Heim’s
Gender Awareness. I have practiced implementing these tools and driving change as Leader of the IBM Research Diversity Council, President of IEEE Electronic Packaging Society, and as a speaker on diversity and inclusion in my area of Electronics Packaging.
My personal growth has been shaped by the philosophic writings of Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now) and Robert L. Leahy (The Worry Cure), through the dance practices of Mary Starks Whitehouse (Authentic Movement®) and Gabrielle Roth (5-Rythms®), through the spiritual teachings of the Episcopal Church, The Rule of St. Benedict, stewardship and outreach, and through the empowerment experience of Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts Mastery Program.
Over the years, I have built my practice in studios and dance halls. In 2019 I became a certified JourneyDance® Facilitator after two years of study and practice with Toni Bergins. I have been fortunate to work with some very talented people and share their energy even as they share mine. Join me and allow yourself to Move into A New Story.
